Stimulus Bill: the latest receipt on Wasteful Spending

As we close in on the election, I’ve noticed Democrats aren’t touting their February 2009 Stimulus Bill, which as revised by the Congressional Budget Office, cost $862 billion.
In December 2009, the LA Times reported $157,8 billion in stimulus funds had been spent to save 640,320 jobs. Wow, that’s only $246,346 per job!
Woohoo! We redirected, borrowed, or printed nearly $250,000 to save a job.
Isn’t the government efficient?
In October of 2009 the government released the data that the “average payroll employee (for October 2009) was $59,867. The government spends FOUR TIMES the average salary to “Create a Job”. Using their ridiculous figures and the average payroll – that would have been 2.4 million jobs.
So this was the recent headline:
NIH, spent $823,200 of economic stimulus funds in 2009 on a study by a UCLA research team to teach uncircumcised African men how to wash their genitals after having sex. (read http://deskofbrian.com/2010/09/how-have-we-spent-the-stimulus-823000-went-to-african-genital-washing-program/)

California no longer Golden State: bankruptcy, gay marriage, illegals & free the prisoners

Following the initial publishing of "State of the Nation" by Brandon Jones at Desk of Brian -- original post here: http://sites.google.com/site/thedeskofbrian/state-of-the-nation/californianolongergoldenstatebankruptcygaymarriageillegalsfreetheprisoners

The old phrase "As California goes, so goes the nation" will spell disaster for America. Orange County alone is shackled with the burden an millions and millions illegal aliens and a verdict is pending to possible overturn the voice of the people on Prop 8.

57,000 individuals would disagree with me right from the onset as a federal judge has ordered the State of California, the "Golden State", to release these thousands of prisoners to ease the burden on the budget.

"This order, the latest intrusion by the federal
judiciary
into California's prison system, is a blunt instrument that
does not recognize the imperatives of public safety, nor the challenges
of incarcerating criminals, many of whom are deeply disturbed." - Attorney General Jerry Brown

From an article by Guy Adams: "Arnold Schwarzenegger has sent redundancy notices to 20,000 government
employees and shut down California’s last remaining public works
projects yesterday, as state politicians failed to pass a budget that
will prevent his administration from running out of money."

The solution in the California State Senate is raise taxes.

In the middle of the worse recession in modern times and their cure (for the $12 billion deficit this year alone) is more taxes. Income tax revenues are in decline -- translation to Liberals: then there's room to tax them more; translation to a Conservative: more tax yields less activity so lower the taxes.

Meanwhile, across the state, Prop 8, the official amendment blocking recognition of gay marriage, is under siege. Similarly, the judicial system can overturn millions of voters, cost the state billions and ignore the constitution entirely.

Californians ignore the constitution, fiscal responsibility and personal responsibility.

There is now increasing cries for a "bailout" for California. A state cannot officially declare "bankruptcy" and President Obama (and Congress) have proved that 49 states can be required to carry the burden of one (see Nebraska's Medicaid clause in the proposed health care bill.)

"It is a paradoxical truth that tax rates are too high and tax
revenues are too low and the soundest way to raise the revenues in the
long run is to cut the rates now ... Cutting taxes now is not to incur
a budget deficit, but to achieve the more prosperous, expanding economy
which can bring a budget surplus." - John F. Kennedy, 1962

California, we hope you wake up. We don't follow you or have any desire to emulate your politics. I will push, protest, call and write any and every member of Congress: DO NOT BAILOUT CALIFORNIA!

California you have a few objectives that you need to wake up to: first, illegal aliens are just that: here illegally. They are an anchor around the budget and tax liability of the people. Start by sending them back through immigration to gain legal citizenship.

Next, acknowledge and obey the state Constitution. You can vote on measures, be unhappy with the outcome and then try backdoor, backhanded means to achieve the results you want. This is tyrannical and we all hope you can see that at some point. If you want gay marriage, then write another amendment and go do it properly.

Lastly, less government -- California, your state is proof to the rest of us that none of this "microtaxation" on cigarettes, soda, plastic bags, a ridiculous gas tax, etc...is the solution to anything.

I quoted JFK for a reason, maybe you'll see that.

Geithner lies to America over Bank fees

Follow "State Of the Nation" original posts at Desk of Brian:

Taxpayers from top to bottom will get a proverbial rear-ending as the government attempts to recoup losses from their bad decisions.

Attempting to save AIG is the latest debacle revisited in Washington

Reuters reports how the White House will spin penalizing large banking and finance firms as Treasury Secretary, Timothy Geithner speaks out:

"Those contracts were outrageous. They should never have been permitted," Geithner said in testimony to the U.S. House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee.

Geithner and the administration fail to acknowledge that these "outrageous contracts" were approved when the "bailout funds" were agreed upon. In fact, most of the executives at AIG were hired to work for a dollar with a bonus plan attached.

"Now, if you join with us in passing this proposed fee on our largest financial institutions, then you'll be able to say, as we do, that the American taxpayer will not pay a penny for what happened at AIG," Geithner said

Most egregious is how the taxpayers will be covering their horrible decisions. These "bank fees" and penalties will be passed on to the consumer. Building up their slush fund by highjacking money from these firms will start the whole cycle over again.

Again, we are treated like morons.

Americans need to grapple with the hard realization that recovering from this financial disaster is a long, painful process and government intervention is not the solution and in fact, deepens the pain for all of us.

Latest Obama tax to be passed along to you

This week the President spoke on his intentions to punish banks to recoup TARP funds and stop excessive bonuses. President Obama pleased the masses as he demonized bank executives in an effort to collect $90 billion over the next ten years.

Why is there a shortfall? Simple, from the GM, Chrysler, AIG deals that have yielded nothing in return as well as the banks that have folded without returning any government funds.

The first fact that Americans need to understand: companies are NOT taxed, only individuals because all corporate taxation is passed onto the consumer.

Translation: President Obama and Congressional Democrats are about to levy a $90 billion tax on our bank accounts and transactions.

FOX News reports:

Goldman Sachs borrowed approximately $10 Billion
Goldman Sachs paid back $11.1 Billion
Goldman Sachs has paid back 100% of loan plus interest.
Goldman Sachs will be subject to the Obama Bank Tax

General Motors borrowed approximately $85 Billion
General Motors has paid back only $3.5 Billion
General Motors still owes over $80 Billion
General Motors will NOT be subject to Obama’s Tax

Is Obama an enemy of bankers, banking or their practices?

Of course not. Robert Rubin, the famous banker from Citigroup sits at his right hand as an advisor. Countless individuals through the administration and the treasury are from Goldman Sachs and other banking entities.

This is classic "good cop - bad cop" tactics to tax Americans.

ATM fees, banking fees, transaction fees, overlimit fees, bounced check fees -- anywhere a bank can pass along their portion of this $90 billion is where it'll hit you.

NY Times Saving Jobs by Sending Them to Florida

Jobs, Jobs, Jobs...

The NY Times is cutting more jobs, but also saving a few -- how?

Recent news announced that the NY Times will be moving jobs to The Gainesville Sun.

The struggling paper also announced that they will be stopping pension contributions and take the more inexpensive route of supporting 401K programs. These moves are in addition to the previously announced layoff of 100 employees.

Florida is a non-union state with no state taxes and basically, provides a big cost saving measure for the Times.

States like California, New York and New Jersey are responding to the economic downturn with higher taxes and instrusion into the private sector. The results have been small business and some individuals fleeing to less taxed states.

This cycle is a failure. New York just announced that tax collections are down 21%.

States, like the Federal government, need to understand that it's impossible to tax and spend your way out of difficult economic times.
