Disturbing 2010 Census Video

Originally posted at The Desk of Brian, www.deskofbrian.com :http://sites.google.com/site/thedeskofbrian/state-of-the-nation/disturbing2010censusvideo?pli=1

The government propaganda just continues as the political themes are interwoven with dependency on the government in this Census Video.

"Are you ready to party?"

YEAH!

"Health care for the kids..."

uh what?

"Brown like that...I'm Black like that..."

What's he talking about?

"A lot of things on the wish list

health care, tuition..."

"government assistance"

"Count me in."

I'm sure it's just a coincidence that the song is made public within week or so or the health care reform bill being signed and as President Obama deepens the government's role in tuition costs.

Yep, must be a coincidence.

Bill Maher's crudely urges on Democrats

Originally posted at The Desk of Brian: www.DeskofBrian.com -- read it here: http://sites.google.com/site/thedeskofbrian/state-of-the-nation/billmaherscrudeurgesondemocrats

From March 26, 2010 Bill Maher's show on HBO Bill Maher offers advice to President Obama: tell the populace to kiss his ass, made vulgar references to Tiger Woods and the John Edwards affair, comparing health care to violence sex acts. Maher says to tell the Republicans to "Go F*** themselves" as Obama "drags the ignorant hillbilly half into this century." One last Sarah Palin joke and Maher completes his update on how the left see politcs, Obama's "socialism" and the rest of America.

Here's a word President Obama should take out of his Teleprompter:
Bipartisanship. People only care about that in theory, not in practice.
The best thing that happened this year is when Obama finally realized
that and said: "Kiss my black ass, we're going it alone George W. Bush
style."
[applause]

Now, two months ago, conservative Fred Barnes
wrote, "the health care bill is dead with not the slightest prospect of
resurrection." Well, if it's dead, you just got your ass kicked by a
zombie named Nancy Pelosi. Seriously, the last time a Democrat showed
balls like that John Edwards' girlfriend was filming it.

And yet, even before the Democrats got to take a single victory lap, they
were being warned not to get drunk with power. I disagree. All you
Democrats do a shot and then do another. Get drunk on this feeling of
not backing down and doing what you came to Washington to do. [applause]

Do not listen to the people who are now saying that nothing else big
should be attempted for a while because health care was so rough.
Wrong. Because I learned something watching the lying bullies of the
right lose this one. When they’re losing, they squeal like a pig. They
kept saying things like, the bill was being "shoved down our throats."
Or the Democrats were "ramming it through." The bill was so big they "couldn't take it all at once." [laughter]

And you know what? I realized listening to this rhetoric that it reminded me of something.
It reminded me of Tiger Woods' text messages to his mistress that were
made public last week, where he said, and I quote: "I want to treat you
rough, throw you around, spank and slap you and make you sore. I want
to hold you down and choke you while I f*** that ass that I own. Then
I'm going to tell you to shut the f*** up while I slap your face and
pull your hair for making noise."
Unquote. [laughter]

And this, I believe, perfectly represents the attitude the Democrats should now
have in their dealings with the Republican Party. [applause]

Yes, it does. That's what they should be saying to the Republicans: "Shut
the f*** up while I slap your face for making noise! Now pass the
cap-and-trade law, you stupid b*tch, and repeat after me, ‘global
warming is real.’"
[applause]

The Democrats need to push the rest of their agenda while their boot is on the neck of the greedy, poisonous old reptile. Who cares if cap-and-trade bill isn't popular,
neither was health care. Your poll numbers may have descended a bit,
but so did your testicles.

So don't stop. We need to regulate the banks, we need to overhaul immigration, we need to end corporate welfare including at the Pentagon, we need to bring troops home from
everywhere, we need to end the drug war, and we need to put terrorists
and other human rights violators on trial in civilian courts --
starting with Dick Cheney. [applause]

Democrats, in conclusion, Democrats in America were put on earth to do one thing: Drag the ignorant hillbilly half of this country into the next century, which in
their case is the 19th. And by passing health care, the Democrats saved
their brand.

A few months ago, Sarah Palin mockingly asked them: "How's that ‘hopey-changey’ thing working for you?" Great, actually, thanks for asking. And how's that whole ‘Hooked on Phonics’ thing working out for you? [laughter]

Harris Poll: 40% believe Obama a socialist

Originally posted at The Desk of Brian: www.DeskofBrian.com -- read it here: http://sites.google.com/site/thedeskofbrian/state-of-the-nation/harrispoll40believeobamaasocialist

The polarization of America continues as President Obama signed the Health Care Reform Bill into law this week despite poll indicate only 25% favor the bill.

We've heard and seen allegations of violence, horrible bigotry, death threats and more violence.

DOB's Robert Herriman posted:

This is out of control! Road rage over a Obama bumper sticker

Are we out of control or headed there?

Harris Poll released this week found:

  • 40 percent of Americans say Mr. Obama is a socialist

  • 33% think he's a Muslim

  • 25% think he was not even born in the U.S.(he's not eligible to be president and is a "domestic enemy that the U.S.
    Constitution speaks of")

Shocking? Not to me.

As I've proclaimed during the Bush administration, the divide between parties is a chasm that is hard to bridge. President Obama campaigned on being capable of uniting the parties, but he struggled to resolve feuds in the Democratic Party to push Health Care Reform.

One example from the Harris Poll:

67 percent of both Republicans and conservatives said Mr.
Obama was a socialist, compared with 14 percent of Democrats and 15
percent of liberals.

Well, at least we have 14-15% of honest liberals and Democrats.

"These new numbers are shocking but not surprising - they detail the
extent to which 'wingnuts' are hijacking our politics. This poll should
be a wake-up call to all Americans about the real costs of using fear
and hate to pump up hyper-partisanship," John Avlon, author of
"Wingnuts: How the Lunatic Fringe Is Hijacking America"
told the Harris
pollster.

Not surprising?

Of course, it's the right-wing brainwashing machine (aka "wingnuts" in this instance) but does that include Al Sharpton who said this:

"...then we'd have to say that the American public overwhelmingly voted for socialism when
they elected President Obama."

Sharpton tells US: Obama is a socialist

"We are playing with dynamite by demonizing our president and dividing
our country in the process. Americans need to remember the perspective
that Wingnuts always forget - patriotism is more important than
partisanship," Mr. Avlon said.

Yes, but was Mr. Avlon worried about these partisan attacks when Bush was being attacked and called "Hitler" nearly daily.

In a 2007 Rasmussen Poll found that 35% of Democrats thought that Bush knew about the
9/11 attacks in advance, and that another 26% weren't sure. Partisan? Dangerous?

I actually with Mr. Avlon, we're in dangerous territory. So where to go from here? What will wake you up that there is only a degree of difference between the two parties and most of political actions are done for political gain only.

I was not hard enough on Bush as I should have been, of course, most people only agreed with me while I railed on Bush over Social Security, illegal immigration or spending. It was always about a stolen election and the war.

So let me challenge you to do some soul searching.

If the Health Care Reform Bill outrages you, where are you on Bush and the ridiculous spending on Medicare Prescription Drugs?

Why is the Iraq War, Patriot Act and Gitmo so outrageous under Bush, but now just a quiet backdrop under Obama? Where's the protesters?

Yes Bush ran deficits, but if that upset you, where are you on Obama's spending which is THREE TIMES the worst under Bush?

I'm not with the 14% that think Obama is the anti-Christ or the 20% that feel he's a racist.

But I have serious concerns and questions about the actions of this President and his administration.

He appears to be fulfilling his campaign promise of "transforming" America, unfortunately, he's not simply fixing it.

Maybe some people are just now figuring that out.

Mass E-Mails: Which are True?

Originally posted on DeskofBrian.com: http://sites.google.com/site/thedeskofbrian/state-of-the-nation/masse-mailswhicharetrue

Seen this one: Barack Obama carrying and reading the book "The Post-American World" with shock factor language to insight our American patriotic spirit.

Reality Check: Picture true.

The disturbing fact is that this was taken in Montana 2008, before the election and completely ignored. The author, Fareed Zakaria, is a huge Obama fan and fan of globalization. To quote Newsweek's review:

It's true China is booming, Russia is
growing more assertive, terrorism is a threat. But if America is losing
the ability to dictate to this new world, it has not lost the ability
to lead.

Thanks to Carolyn for sending this to me as we can see that the book does in fact fit the social and foreign policy agenda of the White House.

How about the Andy Rooney email, seen this one:

CBS
DIDN'T STOP HIM- THIS IS
GREAT

Good
for him!!!

Surprised

CBS let him get away with this even though he's
right

Andy Rooney

said
on '60 Minutes' a few weeks
back:

(exerts from the email)

"Guns do not make you a killer. I think killing makes you a killer. You can kill someone with a baseball bat or a car, but no one is trying to ban you from driving to the ball game."

"When 70% of the people who get arrested are black, in cities

where 70% of the population is black, that is not racial profiling; it is the Law of Probability."

"We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their freedoms, so that decades later they

could come over here and tell us our constitution is a living document; and open to their interpretations."

It's 100% false.

The origins date back to 2003 and this email was so widely circulated on and off again for a couple of years, Rooney actually issued a statement in 2005:

There's a collection of racist and sexist remarks on the Internet under a picture of me with the caption "ANDY ROONEY SAID ON 60 MINUTES" If I could find the person who did write it using my name I would sue them.

I recently received this from Brian, Bill and several others - nope, not true. Andy is intense at times, but this one is complete fabrication.

Organizing for America encourage Liberals to call Radio Shows

Originally Published "State of the Nation" by Brandon Jones at Desk of Brian.com: http://sites.google.com/site/thedeskofbrian/state-of-the-nation/organizingforamericaencourageliberalstocallradioshows

The latest greatest effort to stir support for Obamacare. The powerhouse activist group Organizing for America launched their new website: http://radio.barackobama.com/

GOAL: "The fate of health reform has been a focus of debate in living rooms
and offices, on TV and online -- and on talk radio. And since millions
of folks turn to talk radio as a trusted source of news and opinions,
we need to make sure OFA supporters are calling in with a pro-reform
message."

It's apparently time give Liberal supporters some Cliff Notes and talking points and send them out to face Conservative Talk Shows. Rush Limbaugh has always identified these individuals as "Seminar Callers" having frequented his show for years.

More from the site:

CALLING TIPS

  • Be polite, respectful, and clear. Remember, you represent Organizing for America.

  • How radio stations will connect you will depend on the
show. Some radio shows may connect you right away, but most will take
your name and basic info and put you on hold. You may or may not be
able to hear the broadcast on the show while you're waiting. You may
hear the radio host say something like, "Hello, we have your name on the line with us."

  • Some hosts may challenge your views. Stay calm and firm. Sharing a
personal story about how health reform affects you and your family is a
great way to show the importance and urgency of health reform.

  • If you can't get through, don't worry! If the show you call is busy
or not accepting calls at the moment you call in, simply click "Give me
    another show" to find another.

DISCUSSION POINTS

These points are only to provide extra information and suggestions. Your personal story will make the most compelling message.

  • For
most Americans, their health care plan covers too little and costs too
much. Far too many people delay or even skip the care they need because
    they simply can’t afford it.

  • The plan the President
laid out includes the largest health care tax cut for middle class
families in history and makes coverage more affordable for tens of
millions of families and small business owners and expands coverage to
over 31 million Americans who are currently uninsured.

  • This plan will give millions of Americans new choices in health
insurance by making coverage more affordable, ending the denial of
coverage for pre-existing conditions, putting power in the hands of
consumers instead of insurance companies and providing one of the
largest tax cuts in history while also reducing our national deficit.

  • Reform
couldn’t be more urgent – just this month consumers in California were
told their premiums could go up as much as 39 percent.

  • Too
many in Washington are now saying that we should delay or give up on
reform entirely, but Americans understand the stakes for our economy
and our lives, and we want action.

I personally have always welcomed opposing discussion, but find most people are aligned with the party, believe what they believe and can't or won't back it up.

To the Discussion Poinsts:

More than half of the 31 million people that are uninsured (according to these claims) choose NOT to purchase insurance (earning $50,000 per year or more) or simply don't apply for programs like Medicaid.

Obama solution: force them.

Next, there is no decrease in deficit because of the fuzzy math. This ten year plan yields only six years of benefits. Taxation begins immediately with the coverages starting four years from now -- not real, real urgent after all.

Moreover, if we look at full ten years of coverage, the Congressional Budget Office estimates the cost at $2.5 trillion.

I'd love to have open debates with supporters, but they are few and far between. If you are up for the challenge, let me know.

Most Overrated Presidents

Recent "State of the Nation" by Brandon Jones posts this week on Desk of Brian: http://sites.google.com/site/thedeskofbrian/state-of-the-nation/mostoverratedpresidents

A Special Happy President's Day Happy Birthday to Presidents Lincoln and Washington.

For various reasons a President's legacy is defined and ranked in the minds of historians and the American public. Below is a short list of the "Most Overrated" Presidents in our history and why I put them on this list.

Abraham Lincoln: Concerned more with secession and the economy than ending slavery, Lincoln violations of habeus corpus is ignored. Lincoln could not afford to lose the Tariffs from the South and gets to much credit for repairing the damage of James Buchanan and Pierce.

"I have no purpose, directly or indirectly, to interfere with the
institution of slavery in the states where it exists. I believe I have
no lawful right to do so, and I have no inclination to do so." - 1860

"My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not
either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without
freeing any slave I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some
and leaving others alone I would also do that. What I do about slavery,
and the colored race, I do because I believe it helps to save the Union." - Letter to Horace Greeley, August 22, 1862

Lincoln is always mentioned in the Top Five Presidents of all-time mostly as a savior of civil rights which was an afterthought - he was certainly no advocate for blacks or ending slavery.

Franklin D. Roosevelt
: The icon to leftists, socialist, and Democrats get credit for surviving the Great Depression and turning the country around.

In fact, it was his endless spending, government intrusive programs and massive national debts that prolonged the Great Depression. Calvin Coolidge faced a similar collapse and used a less taxes and smaller government to lead the country to recovery in months.

FDR's legacy was salvaged with World War II as we should realize that we are still paying the price for many of these bankrupt government programs and agencies today.

Ronald Reagan: A hero to modern Republicans and self-proclaimed Conservatives, Reagan's speeches were far superior than his actions and the results.

Compared to liberals that preceded his administration and those that followed, Reagan appears very conservative. Unfortunately, he hardly  deserves his iconic reputation.

Reagan raised the national debt, carrying massive deficits, started the ineffective War on Drugs and has an overrated credit for the fall of the Soviet Union.

A selective memory has given modern conservatives a celebrity of their own.

Barak Obama: A Peace Prize and ranking as a contender to have his face added to Mt. Rushmore - all within months of inauguration. The celebrity, rock star meteoric rise as masked the escalating debt, rising unemployment, apologetic and contradicting foreign policy.

Many historians and Democrats would already put Obama in the top five of all-time -- absurd considering his tenure to date.

I believe Obama's race will garner favoritism and loyalty from many supporters who already hold him elevated asteem.

Obama still has plenty of time to rise to the hype and expectations after the failures of his predecessor; however, he's continued most of those mistakes and avoids responsibility on his lack of success to date.

Theodore Roosevelt: Many credit Teddy with shaping the modern persona of the Presidency and I criticize him for it. The arrogance that led to the formation of the Progressive movement and acquisition of land for the "national good" illustrate the origins of the celebrity nature of our commander in chief.

Liberals ignore the Filipino-American War, Roosevelt's steps to exercise international power (particularly on small countries) and has ill-defined the term monopoly for generations to come.

Teddy's role in "Night of the Museum" will likely perpetuate his likable personality without acknowledging his love of war and big government.

These are hardly our worst Presidents, but they all have reputations and legacies that far outweigh all of the facts.

You could easily include John F. Kennedy, whose assassination and incredibly motivating speeches, lends him unfair positive bias a mediocre presidency.

Likewise, the humanitarian reputation of Jimmy Carter to Democrats masks a term full of countless blunders and tragic decisions or Harry Truman for simply "dropping the bomb."

These men would still be in the Top Tier of "Best Presidents" list (well mostly) but we should challenge ourselves, and more importantly, the next generation to scrutinize facts to better learn from our mistakes.

"Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it." - George Santayana

"All history becomes subjective; in other words
there is properly no history, only biography
."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Analyzing "Why are Liberals so Condescending?" by Gerard Alexander

Originally post at Desk of Brian: State of the Nation by Brandon Jones

Before I get to the article by Alexander, let me confirm that outrageous onslaught from those on the left. Time and time again my point made or attempted to discuss was always under some sort of attack.

"But American liberals, to a degree far surpassing conservatives, appear committed to the proposition that their views are correct, self-evident, and based on fact and reason, while conservative positions are not just wrong but illegitimate, ideological and unworthy of serious consideration."

Alexander's statement totally summarizes much of those on the left. This is particularly intense for former Democrats like myself as any position of dissent is always attributed to brainwashing emulating FOX news or a right-wing talking head.

Alexander's Washington Post column quotes President Obama:

"We were so busy just getting stuff done . . . that I think we lost some of that sense of speaking directly to the American people about what their core values are."

The American people just don't understand or have succumb to the latest rant by Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh.

Alexander describes it as: "The benighted public is either uncomprehending or deliberately misinformed (by conservatives)."

He then sites "Lionel Trilling's 1950 remark that conservatives do not "express themselves in ideas but only in action or in irritable mental gestures which seek to resemble ideas."

Most liberals hold the 1950s-1960s as an age free of biased journalism untainted by the evil shepards of FOX News and talk radio.

But Trilling's comment articulates the marginalizing attitude that dissenters are crazy, paranoid or simply irrational.

Alexander perfectly tackles another condescending tone that I've hard: "...it was all part of the conspiracy to support conservative candidates for their nefarious, self-serving ends."

Bush lover, Obama hater, Beck doesn't even believe what he's preaching and any opposition is just the marching orders of the right -- heard it all.

The article quotes NY Times writer Paul Krugman:

"What do these people really believe? I mean, they're not stupid -- life would be a lot easier if they were. So they know they're not telling the truth. But they obviously believe that their dishonesty serves a higher truth. . . . The question is, what is that higher truth?"

Just like the President, we just don't understand. However, unlike the President (who feels another speech just might work) Krugman just labels us all liars and phonies.

Alexander hits on the race card as well and all I'll add is that I've been called (and those on the right) KKKonservative.

Diving headlong into political discussions and debates thickens the skin rather quickly. My favorite nickname, which I will gladly wear as a badge of honor, was and is: Brainwashed spewer of bile and filth.

President Obama's disgraceful speech at the National Prayer Breakfast

Please check out the original "State of the Nation" publication at DeskofBrian.com

http://sites.google.com/site/thedeskofbrian/state-of-the-nation/obamasprayerbreakfastdisgrace

There President astounded with his speech at the National Prayer Breakfast.

"There is, of course, a need for prayer even in times of joy and peace
and prosperity. Perhaps especially in such times prayer is needed -- to
guard against pride and to guard against complacency."

Are you kidding?

This is the President who has stepped foot in a church only three times since taking office(that's ABC's count not mine), didn't exhibit any religious observation for Christmas and practices his faith daily through his Blackberry.

Yes his Blackberry.

ABC quotes the President: "My Faith and Neighborhood Initiatives director, Joshua DuBois, he has
a devotional that he sends to me on my BlackBerry every day.
That's how I start my morning. You know, he's got a passage,
Scripture, in some cases quotes from other faiths to reflect on."

President Obama dares lecture us, treating us like American plebes, to be mindful of prayer and warns against pride as he practices his "eReligion" through daily devotions from his "iPastor" - is he kidding?

We get the whole story
(full article here) of his families devout Christian faith yet we are constantly reminded NOT all Americans believe in God, but you'd think he'd focus on those of us that do pray AT THE PRAYER BREAKFAST!!!

While appealing for cooperation he humbly become the subject of a joke before jabbing at birthers and those who question if he's a Muslim.

"Now, I am the first to confess I am not always right. Michelle will
testify to that. But surely you can question my policies without
questioning my faith, or, for that matter, my citizenship."

Mr, President, you "preach" civility, then don't bring this up. Don't ridicule or even acknowledge these distractors, because then you're causing the division.

"Empowered by faith, consistently, prayerfully, we need to find our way
back to civility. That begins with stepping out of our comfort zones in
an effort to bridge divisions."

Our comfort zones? Find our civility?

The President that attacks dissent and marginalizes opposing opinions as obstruction dares to lecture the masses at a Prayer Breakfast.

Meanwhile, across the street from the White House sits St. John's Episcopal, where "every president since James Madison has attended a service at St. Johns, where pew 54 is designated as "The President's Pew."
(ABC reminds us)

The President can practice his faith how he likes. He can always be criticized for lecturing others to be "faithful" and "pray" when he doesn't openly exhibit these practices (allegedly outside of Camp David, also from ABC)

"And I'm profoundly mindful that a loyal opposition, a vigorous back and
forth, a skepticism of power, all of that is what makes our democracy
work."

I can only hope so Mr. President.

"Through faith, but not through faith alone, we can unite people to serve the common good."

Mr. President, I agree "not through faith alone", but through the Lord. Through the Lord that we pray to faithfully, that I hope you are indeed reading about on your Blackberry, through the Lord we can be united.

Charlie Crist proves he's no Conservative

Follow the original posts are our new website:

http://sites.google.com/site/thedeskofbrian/state-of-the-nation/cristshowstruescolorsforobamamoney

Charlie Crist proves once again that he'll compromise principles for federal funds. Fervor over the $1.25 billion in federal stimulus money has Democrats and train supporters beaming with glee. Ignoring the voice of the people without hesitation as voters have been against the project for years and there's little concern where the rest of the money will come from.

"We'll have to do some reassessment," said Nazih Haddad, manager for passenger rail development for the Florida Department of Transportation.

Ed Turanchik, a Tampa developer who headed a statewide grass roots campaign for the project, said the $1.25 billion announced today is enough for the first two years. A second infusion will be needed to lay track, install signals, build stations and buy trains for the Tampa-Orlando connection, he said.

"This is testament to people in politics working in the right way," said Republican U.S. Sen. George LeMieux. "Democrats and Republicans, local, state, and federal folks pulled together to get these needed dollars for Florida."

Crist's opponent for the 2010 Senate election Marco Rubio disagrees: "I think we should all be concerned about increased spending on anything at a time when the federal government is borrowing money to function."

Maybe Florida's leaders should STOP behaving like drug addicts ecstatic to get a fix from the federal stimulus drug dealer. Maybe we should be concerned that light rails have been a complete and utter failures all over the country.

Environmentally

So few people actually ride the rails that single car riders leave less of a carbon footprint. The calculations for trains assume maximum capacity (400 per car for the Florida rail) yet in Seattle, a similar sized rail, only average 12 riders per car.

The proposed rail from Chicago to St. Louis will actually run on diesel fuel and the Bellevue rail may be routed through the beautiful wetlands -- neither are particularly green environmentally friendly projects.

Nobody rides them!

Supporters paint a utopian vision of highways free of congestion luring more people to love proposed commuting by train -- well, for other people. Unfortunately, the train costs are so high that DOTs cut other means of mass transit (buses are a common target) and here in Florida, the West Palm to Miami ride, only covers 13% of its operational expenses.

The most damning visual is the famous train riding coyote who boarded a train without fear of interacting with a human.

Randall O'Toole of the Cato Institute has been a vocal adversary to high-speed trains points out that California predicts its 220-mph trains would take 3.5% of cars off of roads while the DOT predicts California highway traffic grows that much every two years.

Similar to the Vegas monorail, which doesn't take you anywhere near the strip, the Florida rail doesn't stop at Lakeland or go into Downtown Orlando.

There's a mixed review of the impact on the environment, the expense project never recoups the cost as few people utilize the train service at the demise of other public services.

So why are politicians so excited about these projects?

The number one rule applies: follow the cash.

Billions for local  engineers and contractors which can be levied for political support and votes. $1.25 billion of "free" federal tax money is nothing more than a laundering of funds to predetermined businesses for political equity.

When the well runs dry, the taxpayers will be stuck with the tab. As cited above, the Obama down payment serves only the groundbreaking before we'll be asked to pony up billions and billions, probably through taxation, just to put in the tracks.

To Charlie Crist: if you are part of the problem NOW, why would we put you into the Senate to do more damage to our country and the debt?

Obama State of Union pandering and Campaign Speech

Please see the original post on www.DeskofBrian.com

http://sites.google.com/site/thedeskofbrian/state-of-the-nation/obamasstateofunionfullofpanderingcampaignpromises

The sixth longest State of the Union address in our history was 71 minutes of muddled promises, political rhetoric and campaign speak. President Obama attempted to appease his leftist base with more promises to bring the troops home from Iraq and end "Don't Ask Don't Tell" -- haven't we heard that before?

Meanwhile, tax cuts, offshore oil drilling and support for small business were all part of the pandering to the right, or atleast, the moderates. The President is floundering in the middle of one problem after another and appears to not have any solutions, just another speech.

While having filibuster proof majorities in the House and the Senate, the President's lack of leadership couldn't unite the Democrats on health care as some leftists feel abandoned.

The State of the Union address continued the partisan "Blame Bush First" divide that Obama has used time and time again. There is nothing unifying about labelling opposing view points, opinions or proposals as "obstructionist" and part of the problem.

As a climax to a week long build-up, the President proclaims nearly $500 billion in cuts/frozen spending over three years, but of course, he negates to mention the Congressional expansion of spending by $1.9 trillion.

Stop treating Americans like we're stupid: save $200 billion so you can spend $1.9 trillion ?!?!

While many Americans question the direction of our foreign policy and the handling of terrorists, the President focused on gays in the military.

There's a huge divide in this country between the two parties, between the people and their leaders and between the President's words and his actions.

Let's hope that this is what is CHANGED in 2010.

New Virgina Gov will get the Spotlight - What are Republicans thinking?

Follow the initial posting of "State of the Nation" on DeskofBrian.com

http://sites.google.com/site/thedeskofbrian/state-of-the-nation/newvirginagovwillgetthespotlight-whatarerepublicansthinking

Maybe I'll be wrong here, but this stinks of a missed opportunity.

Newly elected Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell will be delivering the Republican response to President Obama's State of the Union address.

While the newly elected McDonnell may be high profile in Virginia, he hardly garners the attention of this high profile address.

John Boehner, Senate Minority Leader declared McDonnell was selected for his "common-sense economic policies in stark contrast to Washington Democrats’ job-killing agenda."

So his rhetoric is being promoted as the Republican platform proving once again the "right-wing" in Washington are still clueless.

This is the perfect opportunity for Jim DeMint or John Thune, or another potential 2012 candidate to move into the spotlight. Scott Brown achieved a noteworthy celebrity status after the victory in Massachusetts, now it's time to push a REAL Conservative into the limelight.

The momentum from the Brown win could be perpetuated from a solid, strong voice of fiscal conservatism, reductions in spending, reductions in taxation, and a strong illustration of the economic failures of this Democratic leadership.

Passing that baton to a newly elected Republican Governor indicates the politics and NOT the issues are more important to John Boehner and the Republicans in Washington.

President Obama's failures

Let's be clear that this list would look nearly identical if we were reflecting on the McCain administration. The differences between those two candidates were nominal in many ways and America would likely have seen similar "Big Government" mistakes with another Republican administration.

Foreign Policy & the Apology Tour

After several speeches (and a couple of submissive bows)a humble President attempted to appeased world leaders that resent America, but found little change in sentiment. Many countries see us weaker and more vulnerable now than under President Bush, even though they despise Obama less.

Intrusive Government

The fall of 2008 marked a coming together of both parties, both McCain and Obama, President Bush's administration and the treasury to unite in a financial spending and intrusion unlike anything in our history. The stimulus spending, takeover of GM/Chrysler, IMF contributions, payouts for terrorists and now health care all illustrate President Obama envisions a large, massive federal government to moderate its citizens.

Ignoring the People

Poll after poll have illustrated the people do not support a government takeover of health care. Townhall meetings, Tea Party protests and Independent voters have been marginalized and demeaned. Information is so widely accessible, yet our politicians still treat the populous as a gaggle of middle-schoolers.

Broken Transparency Promises

Broken promises and campaign rhetoric have even awaken loyal Democratic supporters to the lack of debate, closed door deals and sellouts to big business, big pharma, and others. Bills were promised to be available for days before votes yet thousands of pages of legislature has been passed without being read.

Afghanistan

Dithering over troop deployment to Afghanistan angered supporters of the war and ultimately betrayed the anti-war supporters. McCain would have had an "all in" aggressive campaign which may or may not have had any better focus or results.

Bankers, Insurance Companies, & Auto Workers are Voters Too

Demonizing businesses at every turn as well as outright penalizing them justly and unjustly has cost the President some serious political support. It will always be easy for a politicians to vilify some enigmatic figure at a large corporation while ignoring the government's responsibility or corruption in Congress.

Teleprompter reliant

President Obama is arguably the most dynamic speech giver in our history...WITH a teleprompter. When he's "off the cuff" we stutters, staggers into a dull, drab and ineffective manner. As this curtain as been pulled back, we've discovered he's not a gifted orator, but more of a professional motivational speech giver.

Terrorism

Months after trying to send a hundred or so Gitmo prisoners to Yemen for release, the Yemeni terrorist group struck on Christmas nearly killing hundreds, if not thousands. Janet Napolitano and the President did little to show Americans they are serious about fighting "man-made violence" with "overseas contingency plans."

Not a Unifier at all

Probably one of the biggest disappointments is the divisive nature of the White House and the endless blame game. The Democrats had total, absolute control of Congress and the endless in-fighting couldn't even be quelled. Americans saw through this facade as they tried to blame the Republicans as obstructionists.

A year later we are witnessing all of the mistakes of the Bush administration with a new added desire for a European style socialism. The economy's collapse is not been squelched, but prolonged by endless government spending.

Unfortunately as we look ahead, we see the same old faces, games, rules and end games.

Latest Obama tax to be passed along to you

This week the President spoke on his intentions to punish banks to recoup TARP funds and stop excessive bonuses. President Obama pleased the masses as he demonized bank executives in an effort to collect $90 billion over the next ten years.

Why is there a shortfall? Simple, from the GM, Chrysler, AIG deals that have yielded nothing in return as well as the banks that have folded without returning any government funds.

The first fact that Americans need to understand: companies are NOT taxed, only individuals because all corporate taxation is passed onto the consumer.

Translation: President Obama and Congressional Democrats are about to levy a $90 billion tax on our bank accounts and transactions.

FOX News reports:

Goldman Sachs borrowed approximately $10 Billion
Goldman Sachs paid back $11.1 Billion
Goldman Sachs has paid back 100% of loan plus interest.
Goldman Sachs will be subject to the Obama Bank Tax

General Motors borrowed approximately $85 Billion
General Motors has paid back only $3.5 Billion
General Motors still owes over $80 Billion
General Motors will NOT be subject to Obama’s Tax

Is Obama an enemy of bankers, banking or their practices?

Of course not. Robert Rubin, the famous banker from Citigroup sits at his right hand as an advisor. Countless individuals through the administration and the treasury are from Goldman Sachs and other banking entities.

This is classic "good cop - bad cop" tactics to tax Americans.

ATM fees, banking fees, transaction fees, overlimit fees, bounced check fees -- anywhere a bank can pass along their portion of this $90 billion is where it'll hit you.

2009: Another and quite different look back

2009 brought us "Hope and Change" with our half-black President and a team of extreme leftists to run our beloved country. We soon discovered that some things wouldn't change. My "Year End" blog here reflected on the political landscape of 2009 but left some thoughts unmentioned.

Windows 7 would stink less than Vista.

The newspapers would remain blind to their political and social biases and plunge deeper and deeper into financial ruins.

We'd lose David Carradine, the Kung Fu star, but catch the sex offender Roman Polanski. We'd witness an amazing landing a plane in the Hudson River and the capture of a marine vessel by Somali pirates.

"Slumdog Millionaire" is supposed to be entertaining, the Stock Market will bounce back, Al Franken really REALLY won in Minnesota and Sarah Palin is quitting.

Lady Gaga (left) gave us a laugh and a head scratch at the same time. Violence in Iran to suppress protess made us gasp and cry as thousands are brutalized. The Henne balloon boy scandal invokes fear, sadness and anger as the tale unfolds.

2009 had it all.

Hypocrisy rang loud in "09" as David Letterman went public about his affair(s) maintaining his integrity (by some standards) yet ridiculed Tiger Woods for his transgressions. Actress Brittany Murphy passed away leaving many to wonder who she was, while Ted Kennedy died and few remembered Mary Jo Kopechne.

The Sci-Fi Channel renamed the network "SyFy", Jay Leno left the Tonight Show to basically becomes it's opening act and Saturday Night Live anxiously awaits the return of Sarah Palin so Tina Fey's impersonation can return to save their show.

What were Americans doing in 2009? We can look at the Top 10 Yahoo Searches in 2009:

10. Runescape - The free PC game is a MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) which translates to a lot, A LOT, of folks sitting around in their underwear pretending to have life while the real world passes them by. #9 NASCAR, #7 American Idol, #5 Britney Spears, #4 Megan Fox, #3 WWE, #2 Twilight and no Surprise #1 - Michael Jackson.

For those that are not too drowsy, yes I skipped #8: Kim Kardashian.

Taking over for Paris Hilton in the "Famous for Being Famous" category arose from one of the deplorable shows "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" and for dating football star Reggie Bush. Reality TV dominated again with another year exploiting humans for ratings and Kardashian delivered the most extreme and deployment characteristics to float to the top of the Reality TV's cesspool of fame.

It may have started in 2008, but 2009 is the year H1N1, Swine Flu, became a buzzword in every household. While the disease spread across the globe, hysteria provoked more panic as the media preached the fear of a pandemic. Cases and death tolls were and are marginally compared to regular seasonal flu.

On a side note, the "Anti-Motivational" Posters (as posted here) became the rage of many mass e-mails. They are hysterical yet often disturbing and inappropriate. Not for the PC, Politically Correct, Crowd, but I'd highly recommend Googling them for a laugh.

American Idol provided an unlikely star in Susan Boyle and a provocative one in Adam Lambert. Boyle's voice surprised the AI judges, fans and became a worldwide phenom. Later, her album sold over 650,000 copies by Christmas. Lambert followed his Idol tenure with a S&M presentation on the American Music Awards, including kissing another male on stage. How many will remember it was Kris Allen who walked away with the American Idol title.

Thousands upon thousands wanted arrived to witness the funeral of Michael Jackson. As the Staples Center in Los Angeles filled to capacity, thousands were stranded outside to worship the "King of Pop" costing taxpayers $4-5 million.

Jackson's death sparked more interest in his music than he had in years, culminating with a movie "This is It" which grossed $72 million at the box office. Jackson graced the covers of magazines everywhere and his album "Thriller" hit #1 on iTunes.

This was a huge fervor, one that was revisited with another bow to the Japanese Emperor. President Obama bows, here, to the Saudi king. Dan Lothian of CNN the Press Secretary is it was a bow or not. Gibbs: "No, I think he bent over with both, to shake -- with both hands to shake his hand..."

2009 Year End Review

Do you recognize the country from a year ago? Will you recognize America a year from now?

If I would have told you last year at this time that the government would own General Motors, Chrysler, many of the banks and financial institutions and AIG, that they would fire the CEOs, that they would threaten the banks, that they would shut them down unless they would take bailout money, that they would hire good people for places like AIG and pay them a dollar to fix the problem, a dollar a year, these people would volunteer; but they would also promise them, the government would, that they would promise them bonuses if they would just work for that dollar a year to fix the problem.

When that year came up, they would not give them that bonus, they would vilify them, send their minions (SEIU) out to protest in front of their homes for even wanting the bonus that they were promised by the government and then people in Washington would then set out to have a specific tax drawn up to penalize these people, would you have believed it?

Not only would the government take over GM, fire the first guy, the President of the United States would fire a second CEO (their hand picked replacement) but the third GM CEO under Barack Obama's term, and no one in the media would report that this guy is the man who helped the Chief of Staff (Rahm Emanuel) make $16 million in one deal.

In government structured bailouts, bondholders would lose their legal status and their investments in favor of labor union payoffs and the courts wouldn’t protect the bondholders. Citizens could lose your home and property through eminent domain and eminent domain would expand in staggering ways. California would decide to levy a 10% tax on its people and insist it's not a tax; it's just a forced loan and they (State of California) would issue IOUs instead of state tax refunds. New York would admit by the end of the year they would be broke so the State of New York would issue retroactive taxes. A tax fund for the poorest of Americans (from the Stimulus Bill) would not really be a tax refund (as issued) – instead, those poorest of Americans, would find out many months later that they had to pay income tax on that tax refund – would you have believed it?

That a job creating stimulus bill would be written, not read by congress, but not even written by congress -- it would be co-written by the Apollo Alliance, a special interest group whose New York chief was a co-founder of the Weather Underground and no one would care! $5-7 million of that Stimulus, taxpayer money, would be used to payoff Hillary Clinton’s campaign debt to complete the deal struck by the President, this under the guise of saving jobs.

If I told you we're going to lose 4 million jobs and the media would report that the White House has created or saved a million jobs even though on their website, Recovery.gov (a $20 million redesigned website) would show that a good portion of these jobs were in about 400 districts that don't even exist – would you have believed it? That they would hold a job summit and not invite the Chamber of Commerce

If I told you a year ago when gold was about $800 an ounce that it would be at $1200 an ounce, would you have believed it? That Dubai which a year ago was bailing out our banks would be on the edge of bankruptcy. That the chief of the treasury, who oversees the IRS, cheated on his taxes (as would almost everyone else in the cabinet) and month after month we are told, by those same tax evaders, that the economy is healing or recovering even though unemployment soars over 10% (nearly 16% for blacks) and the dollar begins to collapse. Bank of America and Citibank would report profits while still owing 40B and 50B in TARP funds. The ridiculous deficit from the previous administration would be quadrupled to record levels in just one year and the plan for 2010 is a 12-18% increase in spending. In fact, as 2009 rings to a close, Congress will submit a $1.1 trillion spending bill.

If I had told you these things a year ago, would you have believed me? Will you recognize America a year from now?

The number of czars would escalate to over 35, one would be a 9/11 Truther, a guy who believes the United States government blew up the World Trade Center, a self avowed communist, who preached police hatred while in prison, and who defended a guy who shot a cop in the head from point blank range, if I said he would be a high level advisor to the president of the United States, would you have believed it?

What if you were told that our science czar (John Holdren) would be someone who called for forced abortions and sterilization through the drinking water, who said that the redistribution of wealth would be necessary and it would happen through the environmental movement. That there would be a diversity czar at the FCC (Mark Lloyd) and he would say Americans have to decide soon which Americans would have to step down from their positions in order to give others a chance, that this same man said the revolution in Venezuela was incredible and that we should model our FCC and our programs after Venezuela and the revolution.

If I would have told you that the most frequent visitor of the White House, over the Secretary of State and the czars, is a labor union president who has repeatedly said workers of the world unite; and we know we've got a lot of illegal members, illegal aliens in our membership, but we also represent American workers -- that he would be the most frequent visitor at the White House, would you have believed it?

What if I told you a year ago that members of ACORN, would face voter fraud charges in nearly two dozen states, ACORN would be videotaped, not by a journalist but a citizen, assisting in tax evasion, prostitution rings and child exploitation and there’d be no backlash against the administration, former members of ACORN and the decision to cut ACORN’s federal funding would be contested in court.

If I had told you these things a year ago, would you have believed me?

What if I told you that a U.S. congressman would tell the American people that it's unreasonable to expect people in congress to read bills, and he would say that because our congress would pass two bills over 1,000 pages, that no one in congress had read -- one of them was over 2,000 pages – would you have believed it?

That people in congress would openly be praising Castro, Chavez, that the president would receive an anti-American book and a photo op from Hugo Chavez and then he would have a one-hour private meeting with Vladimir Putin where Putin claims he “taught” the president the history of the Cold War. Would have believed that our Secretary of State would meet with the Russian leadership with a metaphoric “Reset” button, but erroneously use the Russian word for “escalate” instead of reset?

Would you have believed that the President of the EU would say that 2009 was the year of establishing a global government through the EU and that the climate change treaty would be the next step in one world government, that there would be a call for the end of the dollar as the world's reserve currency by several massive countries and that the leader of Russia would hold up a coin in front of the cameras and say here's a prototype of the new global currency – could you have believed it?

If I told you that the symbol of capitalism, the Empire State building, would be lit in colors of communist China, that the President would make appearances on David Letterman but couldn’t find time to meet with the Dalai Lama or that petitioning for the Olympics would take precedent over meeting with his appointed general in the war in Afghanistan.

Would you have believed that it would be Michael Moore, not Code Pink or Cindy Sheehan that would challenge the President, label him the “War President”, when he agreed to ad troops to the Afghanistan War? This coming after hand picking a General for leadership, dithering for months before making that decision to increase troops not withdraw. This announced escalation would come within days of the President receiving the Noble Peace Prize – would you have believed it?

Would these things sound impossible a year ago?

Would you have believed that our president would give an iPod of his speeches to the queen of England or that he would return the bust of Winston Churchill, which was a gift from the people of England after September 11th? Our President’s gift to the British Prime Minister was a set of DVDs (American Classics), but those discs wouldn’t even work because they were the wrong region – would you have believed it?

If I said the President would come out in a speech and announce that although he didn’t have all the information, but the cops acted stupidly because they caught a his friend apparently breaking into his own home. The cops didn't act stupidly, they just did their job and the President would NEVER apologize, instead he would invite them all for a beer summit and use it as a learning experience about diversity, would you believe it?

That Air Force and two fighters would be the subject of a photo over New York, scaring the residents and costing tax payers over $350,000 or that the President would play more golf than the previous President (who always seemed to be on vacation) did in 2 ½ years – would you have believed that?

What will America face next year?

That the U.S. would have a two-day summit to discuss the role of government in journalism and be discussing a government takeover of journalism but no journalist would actually report on that. Several members of the White House staff and the President would speak out against a major news network, even declaring “War on” this network without any outcry from the other networks.

That public school children would be taught songs promoting the President and his policies and that the media would dismiss it, that the President address those school kids, asking for their support through an essay assignment or that the National Endowment of the Arts would organize artists to develop various forms of art (propaganda) to promote the President’s policies – would you have believed it?

That the global warming hockey stick chart would be discredited, as would its founder, along with another leader of the global climate change movement who manipulated data, deleted e-mails and information to avoid Freedom of Information Act, that these same scientists would do everything they could to discredit the peer review process to make sure it remained pure for their ideological purposes, and yet the media wouldn't report on it and we'd still be headed to Copenhagen with a President the who was going to present a 17% reduction in carbon. Would you have believed it?

Healthcare would be at 36% approval rating, which is lower than Hillary Care, but that those in congress and the White House would still be jamming it down your throats. Congress would vote to federally cover abortions while demanding insurance companies spend 90% of the premiums on coverage. Would you believe that the Senate majority leader would compare opposition to healthcare reform to slavery? The deciding vote in the Senate would be held on a Sunday 1:30 am…

If I had told you these things a year ago, could you have believed me?

If I told you that there would be hundreds of thousands of Americans gathered in peaceful protest in a National Mall in D.C. and the media would not only dismiss them but the government, the president and the media would deem them a danger to the United States. Homeland security would include former veterans and people apposed to abortion on the same watch list as terrorists. Would you have believed that an American shock jock, guilty only of free speech, would be banned from Britain with other terrorists and criminals – and no one would come to his defense?

That two uninvited people could get into the White House state dinner, chat with the President, be near the prime minister of the largest democracy on the planet and that the response from the White House would dismiss the incident and proclaim to do a better job with security.

If I would have told you that there would be a Muslim terrorist and that he would shoot and killed soldiers at Fort Hood, would you have believed it? If I told you then that, yes, the president will make a statement but he will spend two minutes prior to giving a “shout out” and talking about the conference he had with the American Indian organization, would you have believed it? If I then told you after that two minutes he would then say then, oh, and also there's been a shooting of our military but let's not jump to conclusions. And then his Homeland Security director would be over in the Middle East and she would say, don't worry, we're working on things to stop the violence against Muslims in America, would you have believed it?

What if I told you that we paid another country their entire years GDP to take 11 prisoners from the Gitmo prison and then Attorney General’s office would move the most extreme 5 terrorists, including the mastermind of 9/11, to New York city to stand trial? The Attorney General Eric Holder would proclaim that we would prosecute these terrorists to the full extent of the law, but that this is the same AG whose firm defended the Gitmo prisoners, filing lawsuit after lawsuit trying to protect their civil rights – could you have believed it?

Looking at that list, do you recognize the country that you live in? Is this the same country that you lived in a year ago?

I don't think so. I don't recognize it.

I can be wrong on an awful lot of things, but when will people in this country, when will the media, at least question the direction of our country and the one this President keeps laying out.

I began writing a year end list of different incidents and was inspired by a Glenn Beck rant which I incorporated into this theme. If I had told you that Glenn Beck would be on the cover of TIME magazine, listed as one of the most fascinating people of 2009, you’d be asking what the heck happened – wouldn’t you?

I know I am.

Global Warming Summitt Declared a Failure

"The meeting was a disaster,” Lars-Erik Liljelund, the director general of Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt’s office, said in an interview today. “The process needs to be changed because if we continue like this, we won’t be any further a year from now."

The "unprecedented meeting", as President Obama pronounced, has yielded a major blow as the treaty is tabled for a year. Maybe we'll get some more e-mails public to prove that this is the greatest hoax in the history of science.

More from the Bloomberg article:

Rich countries offered to provide $100 billion a year by 2020 to help poor nations reduce carbon emissions, which is conditional on developing countries cutting gas discharges, according to the text. They may also pay out $30 billion in aid from next year through 2012.

“In terms of finance, it is vague, it is a big soup,” Pa Ousman Jarju, a Gambian delegate, said in an interview in Copenhagen. “It’s well below what is required.”

Well BELOW what is required -- got that. $30 billion NOW and $100 billion in ten years is simply NOT ENOUGH CASH for Gambia and other countries.

What did Obama say?

The agreement was reached after President Barack Obama had last-minute talks with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and South African President, Jacob Zuma in Copenhagen today. It was then taken to all nations and most backed it. -- from the article

Scientific fallacy!?!?!

Nations should try to keep the global temperature increase before industrialization “below 2 degrees” Celsius (3.6 degrees Fahrenheit), according to the agreement. Envoys from the U.S., Europe and China have supported the 2 degrees target. Poorer nations and environmental groups wanted 1 or 1.5 degrees, fearing a higher increase will raise sea levels and make coastal cities and some island states uninhabitable.

How carbon does it take to raise or lower the earth's temperature? This is the most absurd aspect of the global warming hysterical fear mongers. Within the last several months for example, we've discovered enormous algae beds that consume 10% of the world's Carbon dioxide. Moreover, these computer models predicting the elevated sea levels etc...still haven't explained (or been recalculated) for the decline in temperatures.

Dr. William Gray, who has predicted an active hurricane season in 2010, has denounced global warming hysteria as "indoctrination" and "one-sided".

From the press release: he warned that 'ClimateGate' revelations coming out of the University of East Anglia are but the tip of a giant iceberg of a well organized international climate warming conspiracy that has been gathering momentum for the past 25 years.

These e-mails are not the only question by skeptics, it's the straw breaking the camel's back. For years the IPCC has ignored amazing parallels in solar activity and previous warming patterns. Ice thinning in the arctic is being countered by the thickening and expansion in the Antarctic. The computer models are full of extreme worse case scenarios and treated as fact instead of a hypothesis.

Science does NOT matter to this administration

This global warming cult predates Obama administration but it's only fair to analyze the comments and status today.

"That is why today, I am also signing a Presidential Memorandum directing the head of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy to develop a strategy for restoring scientific integrity to government decision making. To ensure that in this new Administration, we base our public policies on the soundest science; that we appoint scientific advisors based on their credentials and experience, not their politics or ideology; and that we are open and honest with the American people about the science behind our decisions. That is how we will harness the power of science to achieve our goals – to preserve our environment and protect our national security; to create the jobs of the future, and live longer, healthier lives."1

No they won't.

We are in the middle of the unraveling the greatest scam in the history of science and the Obama administration went to "Plan B" - have the EPA intercede and regulate CO2 as a pollutant (only months after a White House memo stated otherwise)

This science has been led by the UN with the IPCC and has been outed as a fraud and void of honest peer review and viable data.

In May, Lisa Jackson, EPA, said in a memo2

"Science must be the compass guiding our environmental protection decisions. We cannot make the best decisions unless we have confidence in the integrity of the science on which we rely. Therefore, it is my promise that scientific integrity will be the backbone of my leadership of the Agency."

Ms. Jackson, the leading scientists are pending investigation and review of their research and yet the EPA announces regulation of CO2.

People DO NOT have confidence in the science and are questioning the integrity -- unfortunately the Obama administration, the EPA and others don't see that.

Michael Moore to Obama: Don't Do It or You'll be the "War President"

I'm going to praise Michael Moore for being a leader and convicted with his anti-war "letter" to the President which begins:

"Do you really want to be the new "war president"? If you go to West Point tomorrow night (Tuesday, 8pm) and announce that you are increasing, rather than withdrawing, the troops in Afghanistan, you are the new war president."

Many have wondered where all the war protests have gone. Where is "Code Pink" and Cindy Sheehan as the new President has perpetuated the war in the Middle East.

Moore's anti-war theme is loud and clear as he rails on McChrystal and sites the USSR failed invasion of Afghanistan.

"With our economic collapse still in full swing and our precious young men and women being sacrificed on the altar of arrogance and greed, the breakdown of this great civilization we call America will head, full throttle, into oblivion if you become the "war president." Empires never think the end is near, until the end is here. Empires think that more evil will force the heathens to toe the line -- and yet it never works. The heathens usually tear them to shreds."

I'm going to agree with Moore as I've said: We fight to win and come home. I just find Moore's bold criticisms of Obama revealing.

He calls out Obama's fragile corporate backing and the potential for a one-term presidency. No words usually heard fromt the loyal left.
