Liberals feuding over Haiti?

Rachel Maddow of MSNBC and Jon Stewart of Comedy Central rarely ever spar. This last Thursday was an exception to the rule as Stewart mentioned Maddow's poorly timed jab as the Bush administration:

"The idea of more diplomacy and development -- the idea of more USAID power -- is a major part of the Obama administration's agenda," Maddow said. "... All of that, central to what the Obama administration says it wants to do differently than what Bush and Cheney did."

After Stewart mentions leaving ideology out of the Haiti reporting the Maddow clip concludes leaving Stewart to announce: "Not the right time."

He then mocked Maddow, her audience and the network:

"Congratulations MSNBC viewers -- you're on the right side of this terrible, terrible tragedy"

Of course, that could and should be the end of it, right?

Nope.

Not on MSNBC -- Maddow replies on her show:

"I know that's politics, but, listen, I love me some Jon Stewart and the "Daily Show." I'm a big fan, but no apologies for reporting on which agency is the lead to respond to our national efforts to respond to Haiti, whether or not that agency is well-resourced, whether it had been subject to partisan attacks, how much the current administration values and prioritizes and indeed brags on that agency. We all as Americans are counting on our government to do a good job in responding to this catastrophe. This is what it looks like to report on our government's capacity to do just that.

Unfortunately the partisanship was brought to the table by you Rachel Maddow. Everyone knows the shortcomings of the previous administration, we don't need it highlighted right now. Did you mention how the local Democratic leadership in New Orleans failed their citizens during Katrina compared to Mississippi?

Rush Limbaugh's comments regarding President Obama using the disaster in Haiti is as deplorable as Danny Glover blaming global warming, but while we are still in the search and rescue phase political ideology could be checked at the door.

Hatred commonplace for Limbaugh as many wish his death?

I'm no huge fan of Rush Limbaugh, but as it was announced that he was hospitalized, I knew there would be rejoicing by some disturbed folks on the left. I don't recall this type of response over Ted Kennedy and others.

While I was researching this, the balloon popped up that 443 more messages had arrived and I needed to refresh the pages to see them.

443!

I was horrified at the multitude of posts, comments, tweets -- all wishing ill will on this man.

This was actually the second set I found2

"Rush Limbaugh … Drink some bleach !!! Kill Yo’ Self !!!!"

"@tracycoyle oh come on, don’t you wish God would kill Bin Laden? this is no different – Limbaugh’s done just as much damage to the U.S."

"Rush Limbaugh in the hospital! In a year full of deaths, I think we can afford one more."

"I hope Rush Limbaugh dies and I will not take it back. He’s a horrible man."

"A) Praying won’t do anything because there isn’t a God and B) Rush Limbaugh should die for being a giant douchebag. Shut up."

"First thought, good riddance RT @cnnbrk: Radio host Rush Limbaugh was rushed to a Honolulu hospital with chest pains"

There is a lot more where that came from, but let’s check the blogs now. Over at The Huffington Post:

"No, I don’t want him to dye suddenly. It should be very very sloe and pane-full. So he can truly understand how broken our health care system iz!!!!!"

From Twitter1:

Here are a few sample hate tweets taken from thousands about Rush Limbaugh:

"Rush Limbaugh might be dieing? My Christmas wish came true!"

"PLEASE USE HASHTAG #DIERUSHDIE IF YOU HOPE RUSH LIMBAUGH DIES. DONT BE ASHAMED, IT IS FOR THE GREATER GOOD OF AMERICA."

"Rush Limbaugh in the hospital with chest pains, please let this be the end of his reign!!! This would be a great end to the decade!!!"

"FOR THE RECORD, UNIVERSE, IT WOULD BE FANTASTIC TO START THE NEW YEAR WITHOUT RUSH LIMBAUGH AROUND. JS."

"Rush Limbaugh rushed to hospital w/ chest pains. Santa actually listened this year."

"If Rush Limbaugh ends up dying it will take 20 minutes for the right-wing to pin his passing to President Obama. They're both in Hawaii"

"Rush Limbaugh rushed to the ER for "chest pains." Not to worry, it's not like he has a heart there or anything.."

"Did Rush Limbaugh fake heart attack to go to Hawaii hospital in search of Prez Obama's Birth Certificate"

"If Rush Limbaugh gets Hawaiin-born doctors, will he demand to see their birth certificates before letting them save his life?"

"I really hope Rush Limbaugh will live long enough to see history dismiss him as a divisive, racist, flake. Get well soon."

"Haha...Rush Limbaugh died. Black people everywhere are firing their AK's into the sky."

"I was scared of another death this yr til I heard Rush Limbaugh was in the hospital. Come on 2009;don't fail me now." (This one was a big hit, being re-tweeted)

"I do hope Rush Limbaugh is saved by a black lesbian doctor with a questionable immigration status. I don't want him de.. " (I'll assume "Dead"; also another favorite)

"Dear Rush Limbaugh: may your atheist liberal lesbian-of-color doctor do an excellent job caring for you. 8-D" (There were several variations of this one playing on the racist, sexist, bigotted stereotypes)

"May Rush Limbaugh die and be cast into the crushing pillars of the fire. May his bones rot and his walls crumble. May his women lament."

By the time I was finished, there were now 600+ new messages.

The vile fervor is unnerving.

Doug Hoffman & the 3 GOP Victories!

Yes, the 3 BIG GOP victories.

Overcoming the antics of ACORN, SEIU et al. and the visits by Obama, Biden, the races in New Jersey and Virgina went the Repubican's way. The powerful campaigning of the Obamanation and the luster from the Presidential election may finally be wearing off.

But the real story is the no name accountant in New York, Doug Hoffman, who survived smear campaigns by BOTH the Democrats and the Republican candidates. Both the Democrat and Republican candidates were pro-stimulus, pro-choice, pro-spending, supported by ACORN -- what was the difference?

That's when Hoffman through his hat in the ring two months ago and came within 3 points of defeating the politcal machine. As support began to pour in from Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin and others, Hoffman seemed to be shooting past the competition.

So why is this a victory?

The media will overanalyze the words of Rush Limbaugh:

"If Hoffman wins -- and polls suggest that he will -- the race there will be dismissed as an outlier... Folks, I want you to print these words out. I want you to get the transcript off my website. I want you to print these out, I want you to distribute them, I want you to carry them with you, and we'll just see how close I am to being right. (When Hoffman wins) the State-Run Media will say, "New York-23, the race is more about the demise of the Republican Party and anger on the right than Obama or his policies." -- Limbaugh, November 3.

See Rush and others are out of touch. Hoffman didn't lose. Beck, Palin, and other conservatives lost.

Within days of dropping out of the race, the "Republican" (Dede Scozzafava) began campaigning, NOT for Hoffman, but for the Democrat Owens. She still received 6% of the vote as millions from HER supporters focused their attention on defeating Hoffman.

What this should be is a wake up call NOT just for Democrats, but for all incumbants.

The difference between McCain Obama was Right leaning Democrat and Socialist. The same was true in New York and it took a no name accountant to rise up and shake up the machine.

From Politico: "Obama now faces a much tougher challenge persuading these mostly moderate Democrats to put themselves further at risk by backing such liberal priorities as expanding government’s role in heath care or limiting greenhouse gases."

Eric Cantor added: "This is a shot across the bow to the moderates and Blue Dog Democrats as they decide votes on health care and other issues."

Sure that's true, but don't buy that the "Cram and Ram" approach is going to change. In fact, if the White House and Nancy Pelosi feel their power waning, expect an acceleration NOT a slow down of radical policy making.

Limbaugh wrong to call Obama salute a photo-op

I'm no Obama fan. Read "State of the Nation" for any length of time and you'll know that. With that said, I think I've been critical and backed up my point of view as fairly as I can.

Rush Limbaugh recently spoke out against Obama who visited Dover Air Force base and was photographed saluting our fallen soldiers.

"It was a photo op precisely because he's having big-time trouble on this whole Afghanistan dithering situation." - Limbaugh

Just unfair.

How or when could the President have shown these soldiers proper respect and it WOULD NOT/COULD NOT be called a photo op?

I don't what's in the President's heart and I'm not going to debate Limbaugh on the "dithering" but sometimes things should just go unsaid. Afghanistan is a mess and well discuseed. The President's efforts at Dover, good intentioned or not, should stand on their own merit.

Attacks on Pro-FOX Democrats: they say: FOX is most FAIR!

Bob Beckel, who worked for Bobby Kennedy, answered to critics during the "War against FOX" saying: "I talk to more persuadable voters in a month than anybody on MSNBC and CNN talks to in a year."

Liz Chadderdon openly discussed her gaffe in which she referred to Guantanamo Bay detainees as "victims" and immediately received complaints, up to and including death threats.

Why bother to be on FOX -- it's all about the ratings. FOX is #1 and beating CNN, MSNBC and CNBC combined.

"You know how I know nobody watches CNBC?" said Chadderdon. "I compared the pope to my 11th-grade algebra teacher, and nobody sent me a letter."

That was hysterical to me. Can you imagine if Rush Limbaugh made that comment.

Lanny Davis made the left very, VERY angry with a comment that FOX was the fairest in the treatment of Hillary Clinton and claiming the FOX bias is overstated.

Davis answered critics: "Is there a difference between Fox and MSNBC? You count the number of guests on Rachel [Maddow] and Keith [Olbermann] who are conservative Republicans. If you get to double digits, I’ll buy you dinner for each one."

Doug Schoen, who joined FOX Nation, stated this about FOX: "They are the most professional network of any I have dealt with. If you are a Democrat who wants to deliver mindless talking points on Fox, it's probably best to go to MSBNC and hope you get a chance to recite them. I think Fox encourages critical views of all sides, asks different kinds of questions and wants to have diversity of view."

Recent surveys have shown that a larger number of Democrats and Independents watch FOX compared to Republicans watching their competition.

The answer is even more simplistic: FOX isn't treating you like an idiot and analyzing news like a Saturday Night Live sketch (which CNN analyzed)

We all know there's bias and an agenda. Journalism in the traditional sense is dead and the 2008 election kicked in the last bit of dirt of their grave. No one wants to hear Chris Matthews talk about the tingling in his leg when Obama speak or sit through Olbermann bash big business while cashing his GE backed check from MSNBC.

Just like politicians, the media needs to stop treating us like nitwits. For now, FOX does a better job of that than their competition.

Dick Cheney eats babies & it's ok to slander Rush

Only a couple of weeks ago Rush Limbaugh was slandered to prevent his ownership of the St. Louis Rams. Even after the facts regarding the reports of false statements and allegations were clarified, the media was reluctant to apologize and correct their errors.

There were no sound bites to confirm the wild comments of racism and prejudice. But like Dan Rather and the Bush memos, they want it to be true.

Meanwhile liberal talking head Mike Malloy blasted former VP Dick Cheney:

Mike Malloy:

"Cheney, by the way looks very ruddy; I couldn't get over that like he must have feasted on a Jewish baby, or a Muslim baby; he must have sent his people out to get one and bring it back so he could drink its blood, because that's what somebody like Cheney does to get that ruddy look.

It was scary to see. This was not makeup; and the weird part is there were no dribbles of blood down his tux. But it was very clear that he had been eating the blood of a Jewish or a Muslim baby. He wouldn't eat a Christian baby. If he ate the blood of a Christian baby, there's something in the old writings that said that instantly the trap door to Hell opens and you disappear into the smoke, so it's got to be a Muslim or a Jewish baby; and you drink the blood and you're healthy again if you're somebody like Dick Cheney.

I'm thinking, oh my God, he just won't away! There's no way to stop him, and now his spawn, his daughter, is picking up the cudgel, so to speak; and now they have this new organization, something to do with more right-wing warmongering, death and destruction. How do you stop Dick Cheney?"

My emphasis was added. I found the clip here.

Wow.

I'm no fan of Cheney, in fact, you can form a line behind me because I'd lead the way with complaints and criticisms. However, I've heard endless Obama supporters railing about "disrespect" and "respecting the office" yet this hasn't gotten a peep.

When I heard about the Malloy comments, I immediately found the transcript, but I thought this can't be true. It didn't take long to find the audio clip, so why didn't CNN, MSNBC and others do the same with Limbaugh.

There's also a clip of Malloy wishing Glenn Beck would commit suicide: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2009/08/06/liberal-talker-mike-malloy-hopes-glenn-beck-commits-suicide

I don't know much about Malloy, but his words speak for themselves. I don't care for Limbaugh because it's the same old rhetoric.

What is crystal clear is this amazing bias and polarization in society and our newsrooms. There are good guys and bad guys. The left wing loses credibility by the day by ignoring this fact and not answering for it.

Why Conservatives rave about Gallup Poll, but shouldn't!

The recent Gallup Poll is and will be promoted, over analyzed and overtly praised as a comeback for conservatism.

Sorry, but all polls are biased, mediocre data at best unless the sample size is over 3,000 -- my not so humble opinion.

What Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity will blabber about is that conservatives outnumber liberals 2 to 1.

But will they appropriately note that 36% polled describe themselves as Independent.

Here's the lowdown:

Republicans can't be trusted to be conservative.

Yes, the Democrats have been highjacked by socialists and they are engaging in a transformation of America. The "George Soros Democrats" control Congress, the White House and they are mortgaging our future faster than they are printing money.

So as we look ahead to 2010, what do we really see?

I see the same risks and problems.

Many Democrats need to be purged but are invulnerable in extremely liberal Districts (e.g. Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank) The alternative to incumbant Democrats, are the clones of Republicans, who were (and/or) also part of this mess.

Under President Bush, the Republicans ran up spending, didn't properly regulate Fannie & Freddie, implemented their own "Stimulus Bills" and allowed the Federal government to overstep their constitutional power as well. (Yes I'm omitting several things)

When you analyze the Gallup Poll results you can see that liberals are up since in 1992 and conservatives are down. Conservatives are too synonymously linked to Republicans while Democrats are split on describing themselves as moderates and liberals.

One thing that is revealing in the Gallup data is that we become LESS LIBERAL with age, not necessarily MORE CONSERVATIVE.

18 to 29 year-olds stand at 31% liberal, 30% conservative and 39% moderate. By the time we are in the "65 and older" crowd, the figures shift to 48% conservative, 35% moderate and ONLY 16% liberal.

In all 50 states, including California and New York, most Americans describe themselves as Conservative. I was shocked by this data.

So we must realize why the GOP was dislodged and is still struggling to find an identity. While the Obama, Pelosi, Reid et. al pulls us to the far FAR left, we drift further and further right. Meanwhile, those claiming to be on the right disregard their "conservatism" and behave like those on the left.

The media and the White House can dismiss Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Tea Parties, Ron Paul supporters etc...but at the end of the day we are looking for honest leaders to represent us -- and we are increasingly conservative.

Those of us expressing our dissent don't care about the parties but the end result. I don't care about politicians that call themselves conservative or liberal. I care about how they vote and lead.

I'm 100% sure of that.
